DAN SWARD
Kern County Prospective Staff
FCA’s new campus rep: “I feel like an athletic director for God.”
Dan Sward taught and coached kids from grades TK through high school for 26 years, but when his last school district cut its entire physical education program, and his job with it, he knew he didn’t want to start over in a new district. More importantly, he sensed that God was leading him down a different path.
That path became clear with Kern County FCA, where Sward will now serve as FCA area representative in eastern Kern County, supporting school huddles (clubs) and mentoring student-athletes and coaches.
Sward says his prayer is that his new role with FCA will help“fill a huge need” among Kern County youth. “There’s been a change in the world that has left a God-sized hole in all of us,” he said. “I want to put Christ in front of as many kids and coaches as possible.”
